The military side is looking to gain promotion to the top-tier league at the conclusion of the 2022/23 league season.
In a closely contested Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) division one men's league match between KDF Snippers and Strathmore, Brian Omondi exploded for a 20-point match-high score to propel the former to 69-66 victory in the match played at Nyayo Indoor Arena.
The William Ochieng-coached Snippers were looking to subject the varsity side to a second defeat in one season and, while they struggled, they got the job done.
Snippers have moved to the top of the division one men's table at 20 points after eight wins in 12 matches, beginning their second led on a high.
"We fell short in our game plan but we take the win. We had planned for better zone defense but we gave Strathmore many chances to penetrate score and keep the match close. We will need to work on that ahead of the next match," offered Ochieng.
The first quarter of the match was a Strathmore show as they took a 17-13 lead forcing the soldiers to restrategise for the second period.
It was a close contest which ended 16-13 in favour of Snippers to reduce their deficit to a basket going into the half-time breather.

Off the locker rooms, thatch was a see-saw with leads exchanged and numerous ties at the military side went on to win the two quarters 17-15 and 23-20 for victory in a dramatic finish that saw the winner decided in the last 50 seconds of the match.
"Our offense was working and even when were trailing everyone gave their all for a comeback. Seeing as we are top of the table, we have to work extra hard to maintain that as it gives us an advantage heading to the playoffs," the tactician cum Ulinzi Warriors' player added.
